Mr. Franklin McArthur Woods

Mr. Franklin McArthur Woods, 72, of Cana, VA, passed away at his home Sunday morning, September 13, 2015. He was born in Carroll County, VA on December 4, 1942 to the late Emmett and Etta Belle Edwards Woods. Mr. Woods retired from Bassett Furniture, where he built samples of fine furniture. He was a devoted husband, loving father and grandfather and helped anyone who was in need. Mr. Woods is survived by his loving wife, Janice Branson Woods; daughters and sons-in-law, Patricia and Troy Shumate, Donna and Phillip Hawks; grandchildren, Tanner Woods, Clay Shumate, Emily Woods and Natalie Shumate; sisters, Frances Woods, Audrey Woods and Sandra Woods; a brother, Doug Woods; several nieces and nephew and many special friends. In addition to his parents, Mr. Woods was preceded in death by three sisters, Kathleen Edwards, Maxine Edwards and Brenda Edwards; brothers, Vestal Woods, Rudy Woods, Junior Woods and Eugene Edwards. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, September 16, 2015 at Fancy Gap Pentecostal Holiness Church with Rev. Joe Pyles, Rev. Albert Everidge and Mark Robertson officiating. Burial will follow in the church Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the church from 6:00 until 8:00 PM on Tuesday, September 15, 2015.
