Mr. Fred Ray France

Mr. Fred Ray France, age 78 of Ararat, VA, passed away Saturday, August 06, 2011 at Blue Ridge Nursing Center. Mr. France was born in Surry County, December 29, 1932 to Aaron and Lucy Ledford France. He was a loving husband, grandfather and great grandfather who will be dearly missed. He was retired from Lynne Hosiery Mills. Surviving is his devoted wife, Pauline Ayers France of the home; step sons, Ronnie and Penny Jones of Ivanhoe, VA; and Mike and Carol Jones of Cana; grandchildren, Allison J. Young of Germanton, NC; Christy Leupold and husband Jason of Ararat, VA; great grandchildren, Connor Dylan Young, Kylie Simmons and Alex Leupold; three step grandchildren; and six step great grandchildren; a sister, Eva Utt of Mt. Airy; and brothers and a sister-in-law, Cecil France and Jimmy and Joan France all of Mt. Airy. In addition to his parents, Mr. France was preceded in death by a sister, Alma Marion and a brother, Billy France. A graveside service will be held at 11:00 AM, Monday, August 8, 2011 at Salem United Methodist Church Cemetery by Rev. Harry Sherrill. There will not be a formal visitation.
