Mr. G. Rex Faris

Mr. G. Rex Faris, age 72 of Meadows of Dan, passed away Monday, March 4, 2013 at his home. He was born in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma on December 21, 1940 to the late Clell Franklin Faris and Helma Allene Ferguson Faris. He retired from the United States Air Force with 20 years of service as a Tech Sergeant, and was of the Lutheran faith. He had served as a State Commander of the VFW and as Commander of VFW Post 8467.
Mr. Faris is survived by his wife of 33 years, Hazel Puckett Faris of the home; two daughters, Michelle White of Texas and Catherine Coyne of England; two step-sons, Michael Rakes and Timothy Rakes, both of Carthage, North Carolina; a step-daughter, Vickie St. Clair of Mayo, South Carolina; twelve grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; three sisters, Charlotte Vaught of Live Oak, Texas, and Carolyn Britton and Cynthia Faris, both of McKinney, Texas; a brother, Tom Faris of Dell City, Oklahoma; a half-brother, Roger Reynolds of Dell City, Oklahoma; and a half sister, Pamela Reynolds of Lawton, Oklahoma.
Funeral services for Mr. Faris will be held Saturday, March 9, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. at Moody Funeral Home in Stuart. Burial will follow in the Puckett Family Cemetery on Bent School Road in Meadows of Dan with military rites by the Patrick County Veterans Memorial Honor Guard. The family will receive friends Friday evening from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home, and at other times at the home.
