Mr. George Buren Adams, age 93 of Stuart, Virginia went to be with the Lord on Friday, November 15, 2013. He was born in Patrick County on September 16, 1920 to the late George T. Adams and Rosa Anna Foley Adams. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers, Lloyd Adams, Lester Adams, and Noel Adams and two sisters, Lena A. Clark and Lucille A. Stone. Mr. Adams was a saw miller for 35 years and was a long time member of Fairystone Baptist. He served his country in the Army during WWII. He enjoyed attending functions at the Fairystone Fire Volunteer Department and going out to eat with his family.
Mr. Adams is survived by his wife of 58 years, Emma Foley Adams of the home; a daughter and son-in-law, Jane Adams Layman & husband, Gary of Stuart; a son and daughter-in-law, David Buren Adams & wife, Sandra of Martinsville, three grandchildren; one step-granddaughter; three great grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; a sister, Clara Adams of Bassett; a brother and sister-in-law, Barney Adams & wife, Madeline of Patrick Springs and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services for Mr. Adams will be held on Monday, November 18, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. at Moody Funeral Home Chapel in Stuart with Rev. Richard Dodson and Rev. Dan Shelling officiating. Burial will immediately follow in the Fairystone Baptist Church Cemetery with military rites by the Patrick County Veterans Memorial Honor Guard. The family will receive friends two hours prior to the service at the funeral home and at other times at the home.
