Mr. George Wesley "Stant" Newman Jr

Mr. George Wesley “Stant” Newman Jr., age 82, of Dobson, NC passed away on Monday February 20, 2017 at the Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center in Winston-Salem. He was born in Surry Co. on August 30, 1934 to the late George Wesley Newman Sr. and the late Mary McIntyre Newman. He was a retired Sawmill operator, and attended Rocky Ford Baptist Church. Surviving are his close friends Lawrence Lowe, David and Betty Lowe, Darrell and Patsy Lowe, and several other friends and neighbors. His friends wish to thank the Payne family (Central Continuing Care Nursing Home in Mt. Airy) for all the love and care given to Stant, they would like to give a special thanks to all the many people and churches that have donated to the cost of Stant’s burial expenses. A graveside service will be held at 2:00 PM Thursday March 2, 2017 in the cemetery of New Bethel Baptist Church Cemetery on Haystack Rd. Dobson, NC. Rev. Joe Atkins and Rev. Woody Flippen will conduct the graveside service. There will be no formal services held at Moody-Davis Funeral Home in Dobson. He will be placed in the Cemetery at 1:30 PM for his friends to view the body.
