Mr. George Everette Spencer

Mr. George Everette Spencer, 73, of Dobson passed away Wednesday, March 7, 2018 at Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center. He was born in Henry County, VA on March 28, 1944 to the late Amos Washington and Florence Craighead Spencer. Mr. Spencer was retired from Bassett Furniture Company, and was a member of Chestnut Grove Primitive Baptist Church. He is survived by daughters and sons-in-law, Patricia Baldwin of Cana, VA, Falicity and Bobby Freeman of Lowgap, Christene and Robert Swiney of Dobson, Dorene and William “Punpkin” Shelton of Lambsburg, Eliza and Dewayne Gravely of Dobson; grandchildren, Tabitha Baldwin, Josie Baldwin, Kimberly Freeman, Carl Freeman, Ashley Hayes (Justin), Ryan Swiney, James Galyean, Dennis Galyean, Justin Galyean, George Galyean, Darriyun Shelton, Noah Gravely; great grandchildren, Liam Freeman, Wesson Hayes, and one on the way, James; mother of his children, Margaret Spencer; sisters, Nadine Spencer of Lowgap, Cora Lee Spencer of Lowgap, Velnar Spencer of Westfield, Sara Medler of Winston Salem; brothers and sisters-in-law, Bill and Faye Spencer of Lowgap, Raymond Spencer of Mt. Airy; many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Mr. Spencer was preceded in death by a sister, Leela Spencer; a brother, Edgar Spencer. Funeral services will be held Sunday, March 11, 2018 at 2:00 PM at Chestnut Grove Primitive Baptist Church with Elder Arwood Edwards officiating. Burial will follow in Stanley Family Cemetery. The family will receive friends Saturday night from 6:00 until 8:00 PM at the church.
