Mr. Gilbert John Edwards, Jr

“Junior” Gilbert Edwards, 78, of Galax, VA passed away Monday, January 30, 2017 at Woltz Hospice Home, Dobson, North Carolina. He was born September 26, 1938 in Carroll County, VA to the late John Gilbert, Sr. and Maude Golding Edwards. In addition to his parents, he is also preceded in death by sisters, Mary Lee Parks and June Hawks.
Survivors include wife, Jama Lee Edwards of Galax, VA; daughter, Evonie Mabry and husband, Mark of Galax, VA; son, Robin Edwards and wife, Tina of Lowgap, NC; brothers, Raymond Edwards and wife, Kathy of Mt. Airy, NC and Frank Edwards of Lamsburg, VA; grandchildren, Janson McMickle and wife, Stacey, Hunter Edwards and Macey Edwards; great grandchildren, Jaden McMickle, Paisley McMickle and Jaycee Kate McMickle; several nieces and nephews also survive. A Graveside Service will be held on Wednesday, February 1, 2017 beginning at 2:30 PM in the Mt. Olivet Cemetery, Baywood Community. Bill Spurlin will officiate. A visitation will be held at High Country Services, Wednesday, February 1, 2017 from 1 PM until 2 PM. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to Mountain Valley Hospice and Palliative Care 401 Technology Lane, Suite 200, Mount Airy, NC 27030. Services have been entrusted to High Country Services.
