Mr. Glenn Elbert McBride, Sr., age 77 of Mt. Airy, passed away Sunday, November 29, 2015 at his home. Mr. McBride was born in Surry County on August 30, 1938 to Millard Kellup and Hattie Mae Young McBride. He was retired from Pike Electric and was a member of Flat Rock Pentecostal Holiness Church. Left to cherish his memory are his devoted wife of 43 years, Judy Walker McBride; daughters, Sharon McBride Lascano and husband, Pete, and Tammy McBride Hill; sons, Glenn McBride, Jr. and friend Tracy Gray, Derrick McBride and friend Paula Tuttle Hall and Charles McBride and wife Amy; step children, Bernie Young, Jr., Becky Martin, Donna Gunnell and Allison Jones; grandchildren, Amanda Smith, Emily Smith, Ben Lascano, Lesley Lawson, Alexandrea Jenkins, Jessica Lyon, Brittany Kilby, Christin McBride, Megan McBride, Abigail McBride, Austin McBride and Emily McBride; twelve step grandchildren; five great grandchildren; and sisters and brothers-in-law, Savannah and Jesse Payne, Mary Lou McBride, and Margaret and Larry Coble. In addition to his parents, Mr. McBride was preceded in death by brothers, Clinard McBride and infant Junior Lee McBride. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM, Wednesday, December 2, 2015 at Flat Rock Pentecostal Holiness Church by Dr. David Sparks. Burial will follow in the McBride Family Cemetery. The family will receive friends Tuesday night from 6:00 to 8:00 at Moody Funeral Home. The family wishes to express their gratitude to Mountain Valley Hospice for the exceptional care provided to Mr. McBride during this difficult time as well as a sincere thank you to family, friends and neighbors, especially MaryAnn Martin and family and Lawrence (LT) Tate for their kindness and support.
