Mr. Gordon Allen Sparks

Mr. Gordon Allen Sparks, 68, of Galax passed away at the Joan and Howard Woltz Hospice Home on Thursday, November 3, 2016. He was born in Stark County, OH on November 22, 1947 to the late Fred Marion and Grace Brown Sparks. Mr. Sparks served in the U.S. Marine Reserves and retired as a truck driver. He was a faithful member of Midway Baptist Church in Galax, VA. Mr. Sparks is survived by his wife, Mildred Edwards Sparks; two daughters and son-in-law, Kristine Sparks and Kelly and Leroy Devitt; grandchildren, Corey Devitt and Jordan Devitt; two great grandchildren; sisters, Gail Lombardi and Gloria Steffen; brothers, Gene, Gary and Gregory Sparks. A memorial celebration service will be held at 4:00 PM on November 19, 2016 at Moody Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Myron Dalton officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home immediately following the service. The family respectfully asks that in lieu of flowers, memorials be to Midway Baptist Church, 834 Iron Ridge Rd., Galax, VA 24333 to assist with the construction of the fellowship hall.
