Mr. Gordon Linville Walker, age 91, of Stuart, passed away Thursday, March 1, 2007 at R. J. Reynolds Patrick County Memorial Hospital in Stuart. He was born in Patrick County on March 21, 1915 to the late Grady and Berdie Rorrer Walker. In addition to his parents, Mr. Walker was preceded in death by his wife, Nora Mae Boothe Walker, and four brothers, Troy, Curtis, Fred and Garland Walker. He was a retired machinist from United Elastic Corporation, and a longtime member of Sycamore Baptist Church.
Mr. Walker is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Roy and Everne Walker of Stuart and Kyle and Cynthia Walker of Burlington, North Carolina; three grandchildren, Mark Walker, Marcia Walker Adams and Kristin Starr; four great-grandchildren, Beth Roland, Shannon Hickman, "Will" Walker and Farren Adams; one great-great-grandchild, Ashlyn Hickman; and two step-grandchildren, Andrea Bryan and Meredith Wright; two brothers, Milton Walker of Walnut Cove, North Carolina and Dick Walker of Bassett; one half-brother, Grady Walker, Jr.; and five sisters, Lacy Mays of Martinsville, Nannie Rakes of Collinsville; and Sally Pendleton, Ada Lawson and Ellen Griffith, all of Stuart.
Funeral services for Mr. Walker will be held Sunday at 3:00 p.m. at Sycamore Baptist Church with Rev. Gerald Melton officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends Saturday evening from 7:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Moody Funeral Home in Stuart.
