Mr. Grady William "Billy" White, 71, of Dobson passed away peacefully on Friday, June 28, 2013 at Joan and Howard Woltz Hospice Home surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Cabarrus County on August 9, 1941 to Pearl Bowers White and the late Grady Columbus White. Mr. White was retired from NCFI and a member of Salem Fork Baptist Church. He was a veteran of the United States Army having served in Germany during the Bay of Pigs in the Communications Decoding Division. He was also a Mason of the Granite Masonic Lodge # 322.Left to cherish his memory are his loving and devoted daughters, Deborah Kay White of Mount Airy and Elizabeth Latisa White of Elkin; a son Grady Samuel White of The Philippines; his mother, Pearl Bowers White; four grandchildren, Laken Brooke White, Kaley Nichole Poindexter, Colby Samuel White and Nicholas Beauregard White; and two sisters, Nancy White Potter of Dobson and Bonnie White Venable of Walkertown. Funeral services will be held at 2 pm on Monday, July 1, 2013 at New Hope Baptist Church by the Rev. Trent Lyons and the Rev. Van Brendle with Masonic Rites by the Granite Masonic Lodge # 322, and Military Honors by Veterans of Foreign Wars Memorial Honor Guard Mount Airy Post 2019 and Pilot Mountain Post 9436. Burial will follow in Salem Fork Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 pm on Sunday at Moody-Davis Funeral Home where his body will remain until time to be carried to the church to lie-in-state 30 minutes prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society 500 E. Morehead Street, Suite 2211, Charlotte, NC 28202, or Salem Fork Baptist Church Cemetery Fund c/o Becky Haymore, 282 Crossroad Church Road Dobson, NC 27017. The family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to the staff of Joan and Howard Woltz Hospice Home for their loving and compassionate care.
