Mr. Granville Lee "Sam" Goins

Mr. Granville Lee "Sam" Goins, age 73 of Ararat, passed away Monday, June 4, 2007 at Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center in Winston-Salem, North Carolina. He was born in Patrick County on June 28, 1933 to the late Clifford and Gladys Keith Goins. In addition to his parents, Mr. Goins was preceded in death by his wife, Ruby Smith Goins; two brothers, Columbus Allen Goins and Donnie Wayne Goins; and three sisters, Mayola Norman, Ethel Seawell and Georgie Smith. He was a member of New Beginning Baptist Church, and was retired from Bassett Furniture Industries.
Mr. Goins is survived by one daughter and son-in-law, Debera and Dale Puckett of Ararat; two sons, Randy Lee Goins and Joey Clifford Goins, both of Ararat; four granddaughters, Ashley and Amy Puckett and Morgan and Miranda Jo Goins; and three sisters and a brother-in-law, Janice and Larry Gordon of Mt. Airy, North Carolina, Ada Marshall of Ararat and Carlene Hosey of Claudville.
Funeral services for Mr. Goins will be held Thursday at 11:00 a.m. at the New Beginning Baptist Church in Ararat with Rev. Odell White and Rev. Buford Jessup officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends Wednesday evening from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Moody Funeral Home in Stuart.
