Mr. Granville Ernest Marshall, age 85 of Meadows of Dan, passed away Sunday, February 24, 2013 at Laurel Meadows Nursing Home in Laurel Fork. He was born in Carroll County on May 14, 1927 to the late George Washington Marshall and Mary Ella Puckett Marshall. In addition to his parents, Mr. Marshall was preceded in death by four brothers, Charlie Green, Paul Eugene, John William and Arvil Marshall; and one sister, Della Sanney. He had served in the United States Army during World War II. He had been stationed in Japan and was an automobile mechanic during the war, receiving the Victory Medal and Army of Occupation Medal.
He is survived by three nieces.
A graveside service will be held Wednesday, February 27, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. in the Puckett Family Cemetery in Laurel Fork. Military rites will be conducted by the Patrick County Veterans Memorial Honor Guard. Moody Funeral Home in Stuart is in charge of the arrangements.
