Gregg Wilson Stone, 40, of Mount Airy, passed away on Sunday, October 1, 2017. He spent his last moments in the arms of his long-time love, Jessica. He was born in Surry County on June 19, 1977 to Roger and Hilda Moseley Stone. Gregg was a beloved husband, son, brother, friend to many, and an important part of the ER at Northern Hospital of Surry County, where he worked in the front window for 6 years, warming many people's hearts with his big smile and his kind and loving heart. He is survived by his wife of almost one year, but partner for 17 years and best friend for 8 years before that, Jessica Leigh Johnson Stone, as well as his beautiful cat, Kitward. Among those who will cherish his memory forever are his parents; his brother Tyler Stone; in-laws Sue and Steve Johnson; sister-in-law Abbe Grae Johnson; many aunts, uncles, and cousins; very special friends far and wide; as well as his beloved workmates at Northern. Gregg wanted nothing more than for everyone to be happy and cherish every small thing in life, and he tried hard to show everyone how much he loved them. He was a good listener, and drew out life stories from those around him. His laugh and his smile will never be forgotten. He loved MLB baseball and was overjoyed the Chicago Cubs finally won the World Series, and he was rooting for them again this year. He was a huge fan of The Beatles, loved Star Wars, and loved his wife and best friend, Jessica, and everyone who met him heard the story of their love and longtime friendship. "All you need is love; Love is all you need" Funeral services will be held Thursday, October 5, 2017 at 2:00 at Moody Funeral Home Chapel with music and memories from family and friends. Visitation is prior to the funeral, from 1 to 2 p.m. Gregg would be honored if many of you would wear colorful and/or patterned socks in his memory, which he was so famous for wearing. Burial will follow at Union Primitive Baptist Church on Siloam Road. In lieu of flowers, contributions for funeral and burial expenses may be made to Moody Funeral Home.
