Mr. Gregory Thomas Stewart

Mr. Gregory Thomas Stewart, Sr., 64, of Kernersville passed away Friday, January 29, 2016 at Kernersville Medical Center. He was born in Surry County on August 16, 1951 to Wallace Russell Stewart and Gertrude Dickens Kegley. Mr. Stewart was retired from Lucent Technology and was a member of Sedge Garden United Methodist Church in Kernersville. He is survived by his wife, Patricia “Pat” Ramey Stewart of the home; a daughter and son-in-law, Sandra “Sandi” Easter and Johnny of Lowgap, NC; a son and daughter-in-law, G. Thomas “Tom” Stewart, Jr. and Karen of Kernersville, NC; grandchildren, William T. Stewart, Tina L. Stewart, Shawn D. Easter, and Shane D. Easter; father and step-mother, Wallace Russell Stewart and Inice of Madison, NC; his mother and step-father, Gertrude Dickens Kegley and husband Lee of Mt. Airy, NC; seven step brothers and sisters, Donald Kegley of Galax, VA, Trenna Fields of Dalton, GA, Patsy Dalton of Mt. Airy, NC, Ronald Joyce and Donald Joyce, both of Madison, NC, Becky Tessau and Vonnie Guthrie, both of Greensboro, NC; one aunt, Romaine Poindexter of Kernersville, NC; and many cousins. Mr. Stewart was preceded in death by a step brother, Dennis Kegley. Funeral services will be held on Sunday January 31, 2016 at Moody Funeral Home Chapel in Mt. Airy at 4:00 PM with the Rev. Russell Parsons officiating. The family will receive friends on Sunday from 3-4. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the National Kidney Foundation, 30 East 33rd St., New York, NY 10016 or to any charity of the donor’s choice.
