Mr. Grover Junior "Icy" Dezern

Mr. Grover Junior “Icy” Dezern, age 84, of Elkin, NC passed away on Thursday June 8, 2017 at the Joan and Howard Woltz Hospice Home in Dobson. He was born in Surry Co. on October 9, 1932, to the late Cleve Ephram and Vertie Cockerham Dezern. He was a veteran of the US Army having served during Korean Conflict, and of the Baptist faith. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by, six brothers Luther, Foley, Lewis, Garvey “Doc” Paul, and Rossie Dezern; Surviving are his sister Julie Dezern Collins of Elkin; several nieces and nephews. A graveside service will be held 2:00 P.M. Saturday June 10, 2017 in the Cemetery of Bessie’s Chapel Baptist Church with Rev. Joe Lambert officiating, Graveside rites will be by Veterans of Foreign Wars Memorial Honor Guard Mount Airy Post 2019 and Pilot Mountain Post 9436. Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to the Bessie’s Chapel Baptist Church Cemetery fund C/O Jackie Holder 362 Bessie’s Chapel Baptist Church Rd. Elkin, NC 28621. The family would like to give a special thanks to Golden Living Center “Surry Community Health and Rehab” and to the Joan & Howard Woltz Hospice Home Doctors and Staff for the love and care given to “Icy” Moody-Davis Funeral Home in Dobson, is serving the Dezern Family.
