Mr. H. Gordon Hooker

Mr. H. Gordon Hooker, age 78 of Claudville passed away Saturday morning at his home. He was born on Oct. 11, 1930 in Stokes County, NC to the late Giles Eldridge Hooker and Lucy Myrtle Childress Hooker. In addition to his parents he was also preceded in death by a son, H. Gordon Hooker, Jr; a granddaughter, Tracey Leigh Anderson; and one brother, Conley Hooker. Mr. Hooker served in the U.S. Army, was a Masonry Contractor for 59 years, and attended Hatchers Chapel United Methodist Church.
Surviving are his wife of 59 years, Sallie Arrington Hooker of the home; two daughters and a son in law, Sharon Hooker of Claudville, Linda and Everett Rakes of Stuart; one son and daughter in law, John and Lisa Hooker of Claudville; five grandchildren, Malinda Riggs, Sarah Hash, Caroline Jones, Charlotte Hiatt, Bradford Rakes; four great grandchildren; one sister, Marie Blackwell of Spartanburg, SC; three brothers and sisters in law, Homer and Shelby Hooker of Claudville, Duaine and Jeanette Hooker of Westfield, NC, Ray and Dot Hooker of Mt. Airy, NC; one sister in law, Nettie Hooker of Mt. Airy, NC; and two sons in heart, Mario Morales and Nacho Gallegos, Jr. both of Westfield, NC.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, July 14, 2009 at 2:00 PM at Moody Funeral Home in Stuart with Rev. Harry Sherrill and Aaron Blackard officiating. Burial will follow in the Hatchers Chapel United Methodist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends Monday evening from 6 to 8 at the funeral home.
