Mr. H. Hoover Overby

Mr. Herbert Hoover Overby, age 82 of Stuart, passed away Saturday, October 16, 2010 at Forsyth Medical Center in Winston Salem. He was born on September 13, 1928 in Stokes County to the late Willie and Jettie Ann Hall Overby. He was a member of Wayside Community Church, loved working on small engines, planting and sharing his garden with friends and neighbors, and he loved everybody he met.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Overby was preceded in death by a son; Ronnie Overby, five sisters; Lettie Dunkley, Marie Puckett, Elizabeth Cassady, Matlean Williams and Molene Maze and three brothers; Arthur, Burrell and Walter Overby.
Mr. Overby is survived by his wife of 59 years; Maggie Smith Overby, two daughters and son-in-law; Pattie T. Shelton of Stuart and Dale and Ronnie Collins of Stuart, five grandchildren; Shannon O. Stowe and husband Jeryl, Jonathan Daine Tilley, Kayla Collins, Justin Collins and Jarret Shaine Tilley, two great grandchildren; Madison and Kaitlyn Stowe and a brother Bill Overby of Stuart.
Funeral services for Mr. Overby will be held on Tuesday October 19, 2010 at 11:00am at Moody Funeral Home with Rev. Bernard Handy, Elder Otis Williams and Rev. Reggie Steele officiating. Burial will follow in Patrick Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends Monday evening from 7:00pm until 9:00pm at the funeral home and at other times at the residence.
