Mr. Harold C. Mabe, Sr., age 84 of Stuart, passed away Wednesday, July 21, 2010 at Memorial Hospital of Martinsville and Henry County. He was born on August 2, 1925 in Wythe County to the late Jack and Ellen Archer Mabe. In addition to his parents, Mr. Mabe was preceded in death by two brothers, Eugene and Hal Mabe, and a son-in-law, Terry Reynolds. He was a member at Ross Harbour United Methodist Church, and had worked for American Furniture for 24 years.
Mr. Mabe is survived by his wife, Golda White Mabe of the home; four daughters and sons-in-law, Evelyn and Roger Ivey of Mebane, North Carolina, Connie Reynolds of Callands, Janice and Bobby Sanders of Pilot Mountain, North Carolina and Cathy Coleman of Stuart; two sons and a daughter-in-law, Gary Mabe of Stuart and Harold, Jr. and Patsy Mabe of Stuart; 10 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren; one brother, Sam Mabe of Odd, West Virginia and one sister, Frances Osborne of Wytheville.
Funeral services for Mr. Mabe will be held Friday at 2:00 p.m. at Moody Funeral Home in Stuart with Rev. Sandy Wright officiating. Burial will follow in the Ross Harbour United Methodist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends Thursday evening from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Moody Funeral Home in Stuart, and at other times at the home.
