Mr. Harold Oakley Rorrer, age 95 of Stuart passed away at R.J.R. Patrick County Memorial Hospital on Saturday, March 1, 2008. He was born in Patrick County on April 24, 1912 to the late Taylor Rorrer and Fannie Bryant Rorrer. In addition to his parents Mr. Rorrer was also preceded in death by his wife, Mozell Chaney Rorrer, a brother, Jessie Rorrer and three sisters; Ila Craig, Edna Thomas, and Nellie Rorrer. He was a longtime member of New Hope Church of the Brethren.
He is survived by four daughters and sons-in-law; Sue Carter of Fieldale, Virginia, Barbara & Marion Wood of Stuart, Betty & William Peal of Stuart, and Verna & Ernie Shepherd of Bassett; two sons and daughters-in-law; Elwood & Faye Rorrer of Stuart and Larry & "Sissy" Rorrer of Bassett; six grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, two step grandchildren, two step great-grandchildren, and a step great great grandson.
Funeral services for Mr. Rorrer will be held on Monday, March 3, 2008 at New Hope Church of the Brethren at 2:00 pm with Pastor Rick Randall and Jack White officiating. Burial will follow in the Rorrer Family Cemetery. The family will receive friends Sunday evening from 6:00pm until 8:00pm at Moody Funeral Home in Stuart and at other times at the home on Goblintown Rd. The body will lie in state at New Hope Church of the Brethren 1 hour prior to the service on Monday. Memorial donations may be made to Smith River Rescue Squad, P.O.
