Mr. Harry "Corky" Carlton Hiatt, age 74 of Mt. Airy, went to be in the more immediate presence of the Lord on Monday, March 12, 2012. He was born in Surry County on September 29, 1937 to the late Harry C. Hiatt, Sr. and Myrtle Jarvis Hiatt. Mr. Hiatt served our country in the U.S. Army from 1961 until 1963. He retired from Mt. Airy News after working for other area newspapers. After retirement, Mr. Hiatt did what he enjoyed and loved, building and making crafts and furniture along with his wife. Mr. Hiatt was a devoted member of Grace Moravian Church where he served in many positions and committees. Surviving is his loving wife, Glenda Childress Hiatt of the home; a special daughter and son-in-law, Sandy and Tim Long of High Point; two wonderful grandchildren, Jordan Long and Pierce Long; several nieces and nephews and many cousins. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM, Thursday, March 15, 2012 at Grace Moravian Church by Rev. Tony Hayworth. Burial will follow in God's Acre. The family will receive friends on Thursday at the church from 9:30 until 10:45. In lieu of flowers the family requests memorials be made to Grace Moravian Church, 1401 N. Main St., Mt.
