Mr. Harry Thomas Holt, age 87 of Stuart, passed away Sunday, January 27, 2013 at Forsyth Medical Center in Winston-Salem, North Carolina. He was born in Patrick County on September 23, 1925 to the late Rush and Ella Wilson Holt. In addition to his parents, Mr. Holt was preceded in death by his wife, Ethelene Beasley Holt; two brothers, Noel and Moir Holt; and three sisters, Pearl H. Blackard, Dallas H. Pulliam and Jane H. Ray. He had served in the United States Army in World War II as an engineer and was of the Primitive Baptist faith.
Mr. Holt is survived by three sons and daughters-in-law, Thomas and Margaret Holt of Stuart, Rodger and Peggy Holt of Stuart, Andy and Tonya Holt of Ridgeway; eight grandchildren; two step grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren; one step great-great-granddaughter; one brother, Jay Holt of Oak Level; and two sisters, Eunice Young of Stuart and Norine Buffkin of Martinsville.
Funeral services for Mr. Holt will be held Wednesday at 2:00 p.m. at Stateline Primitive Baptist Church with Elder Jerry Cox and Elder Lacy Gates officiating. Burial will follow in Stateline Cemetery with military rites by the Patrick County Veterans Memorial Honor Guard. The family will receive friends Tuesday evening from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Moody Funeral Home in Stuart. The body will lie in state one hour prior to the service at the church.
