Mr. Harvey Winford Handy, Sr

Mr. Harvey Winford Handy, Sr., 79, of Mount Airy, passed away Tuesday, October 10, 2017 at Forsyth Medical Center in Winston-Salem. He was born in Stokes County on July 3, 1938 to the late James Ralph Handy and Lodessia Shepherd Handy. Mr. Handy was a retired Supervisor for I. L. Long Construction Company in Winston-Salem after many years of dedicated service and faithfully attended Mt. Airy First Pentecostal Holiness Church. He is survived by daughters and sons-in-law, Dena and Paul Newman, and Tina and Eddy Combs, all of Mount Airy; sons and daughters-in-law, Keith and Lisa Handy of Advance, NC, Harvey Jr. and Lisa Handy, Randy and Joy Handy all of Mount Airy, twelve grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; nieces and nephews; special friend, Linda Haymore, and many other special friends. In addition to his parents, Mr. Handy was preceded in death by his wife, Lovelene Brady Handy; sister, Margaret Montgomery; and a brother and sister-in-law, Odell and Jean Handy. Funeral services will be held Saturday, October 14, 2017 at 2:00 PM at Mt. Airy First Pentecostal Holiness Church with the Rev. Brian Frazier and the Rev. Michael Combs officiating. Burial will follow in Rome Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends Friday Night from 6:00 until 8:00 PM at Moody Funeral Home in Mt. Airy.
