Mr. Harvey Leon Walker, age 78 of Stuart, passed away Sunday, July 22, 2012 at his home. He was born in Patrick County on May 19, 1934 to the late Ervin and Gertrude Hill Walker. In addition to his parents, Mr. Walker was preceded in death by his wife, Marlene King Walker; one son, James Walker; and one infant grandchild, Katie Walker. He was a member of Bouldin Memorial Presbyterian Church and of the Mountain Home Masonic Lodge 263. He retired from the United States Air Force with 25 years of service, having fought in the Vietnam war, and had driven for R. L. Shelton Trucking, Burgess Trucking, John Lawson Trucking and the Wood Brothers Racing Team.
Mr. Walker is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Steve and Karen Walker of Stuart; two brothers, Harley Walker of Roanoke and Jerry Walker of Stuart; one sister, Onie Kane of Orlando, Florida; and a special friend, Jane Clifton of Woolwine.
Funeral services for Mr. Walker will be held Wednesday at 11:00 a.m. at Moody Funeral Home in Stuart with Rev. Dr. Bucky Hunsicker officiating. Burial will follow in Bouldin Memorial Presbyterian Church Cemetery with military rites by the Patrick County Veterans Memorial Honor Guard.
