Mr. Hassell Thompson "Woody" Woods

Mr. Hassell Thompson “Woody” Woods, age 81 of Stuart, Virginia went to be with the angels on February 15, 2018 surrounded by loving family. He was born on July 2, 1936 to the late Jesse “Gene” Woods and Glassie Wright Woods. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by three brothers, Bobby, Edward and Johnnie Woods; one sister, Sue Holyfield; and one grandson, Bryan Roberts. Woody was a self-employed plumber for 20 years serving many faithful customers in Patrick County.
“Woody” is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Shirley Ashburn Woods; five children, Wanda Rochte, Dedera Knight, Teddy Woods, Terrie Hazelwood, and Kevin Woods; eight grandchildren; five step grandchildren; two great grandchildren; one brother, Akers Woods; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A memorial service for “Woody” will be held on Saturday, February 24, 2018 at 2:00 pm at New Beginnings Baptist Church with Pastor Mark Wright officiating. Burial will be private. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church on Saturday. In lieu of flowers the family requests memorial donations be made to the Hassell “Woody” Woods Memorial Fund, c/o Moody Funeral Home, P.O. Box 307, Stuart, VA.
