Mr. H.C. Mooney, Jr.

Mr. H.C. Mooney, Jr., 76, of Dobson, passed away Sunday, July 22, at Woltz Hospice Home in Dobson, NC. Born in Surry County on August 13, 1941, he was the son of the late Hardin and Mabel Key Mooney. He served in the National Guard, was a retired electrician, a member of Fairview Baptist Church, and a member of the Copeland Masonic Lodge, the Shriners, and The Order of The Eastern Star.  He enjoyed playing golf with his close group of golfing buddies and volunteering his time to help others at the food pantry and Woltz Hospice Home.  He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Fran Mooney; two sons Ken and wife Lauren of Shelby, and Scott and wife Sherron of Elkin; sisters Barbara Freeman and husband Jimmy of Jonesville and Pat Martin and husband Gary of Mt. Airy; and grandchildren Brian, Benjamin, Emma, Caleb, Annie, and Ethan.  The family will receive friends on Saturday, July 28, from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at Fairview Baptist Church until the time of the service at 2:00 PM with the Rev. Dennis Bledsoe officiating.  The family will have a private burial service at a later time.  The family has requested in lieu of flowers memorials be made to the Woltz Hospice Home in Dobson or Fairview Baptist Church.  The family would like to give a special thanks to the staff and caregivers at Woltz Hospice Home for the love and care they provided their Father.   Moody- Davis Funeral Home is serving the Mooney family.
