Mr. Henry Gale Ayers

Mr. Henry Gale Ayers, age 77 of Stuart, passed away Thursday, September 15, 2016 at Forsyth Medical Center in Winston-Salem, North Carolina. He was born in Forsyth County on November 17, 1938. Mr. Ayers was preceded in death by his father, Clark Henry Ayers; his mother, Fairy Redmond Ayers Clark; his step-father, H. Strother Clark; and a sister, Barbara Sauls. He had received his Bachelor’s degree from High Point University. He had been the Executive Director of PARC Workshop for over 30 years and was a longtime member of New Hope United Methodist Church where he held various titles. He was a member of the Stuart Rotary Club for over 50 years where he was a past president, and a Paul Harris Fellow. He had been chairman of the Patrick County Agricultural Fair for over 30 years, and was president of the Patrick County Historical Society for many years.

Mr. Ayers is survived by his wife of 53 years, Brenda Goard Ayers of the home; two sons, Brad Ayers of Stuart and Brent Ayers of Jamestown, North Carolina; five grandchildren, Bethany Ayers, Jessica Ayers Collette, Skye Ayers, Joshua Ayers and Leandra Ayers; and two great-grandchildren, Jakob and Katalina Collette.

Funeral services will be held Monday at 2:00 p.m. at New Hope United Methodist Church with Pastors Tammy Franklin, Keith Vernon and R. C. Redmond officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends Sunday evening from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Moody Funeral Home in Stuart, and at other times at the home.
