Mr. Henry Abner Bryant

Mr. Henry Abner Bryant, age 87 of Stuart, passed away Sunday, May 23, 2010 at the Blue Ridge Nursing Center in Stuart. He was born in Patrick County on February 15, 1923 to the late Emmit Lee and Maude Gilbert Bryant. In addition to his parents, Mr. Bryant was preceded in death by his wife, Lorene Layman Bryant; two brothers, Burton and John Bryant; and two sisters, Madge Williams and Bernice Mitchell. He had served in the United States Army during World War II, retired as an orchardist with Ayers Orchard, and was a longtime member of New Hope United Methodist Church.
Mr. Bryant is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Emily Bryant Overby and Maynard Overby of Westfield; two grandchildren, Elizabeth and Rachel Overby; two brothers, Bobby Bryant of Stuart and James Bryant of Niceville, Florida; and two sisters, Margaret Joyce of Mayodan, North Carolina and Virginia Collins of Stuart.
Funeral services for Mr. Bryant will be held Wednesday at 2:00 p.m. at Moody Funeral Home in Stuart with Rev. Mike Hundley officiating. Burial will follow in the Wayside Community Cemetery with military rites by the Patrick County Veterans Memorial Honor Guard. The family will receive friends Tuesday evening from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Moody Funeral Home in Stuart. If desired, donations may be made to the New Hope United Methodist Church Youth.
