Mr Henry Emerson "Sonny" Hagwood

Mr. Henry Emerson “Sonny” Hagwood, age 56, of Thurmond, NC passed away on Friday January 19, 2018 at Hugh Chatham Memorial Hospital in Elkin. He was born in Wake County North Carolina on August 16, 1961 to Iris Phillips Hagwood and to the late Ray Gordon Hagwood Sr. In addition to his father he was preceded in death by his wife Renee Harris Hagwood. Sonny was a loving husband, father, and grandfather. He was a self-employed brick mason. Surviving are his daughter and son-in-law, Sarah and Grant Day of Elkin; grandson, Mason Day; his mother, Iris Phillips Hagwood; sister and brother-in-law Ann and Shane Slate of Pilot Mountain; brothers and sister-in-law, Ray “Bud” and Kimberly Hagwood of Mt. Airy, and Timothy Hagwood of Dobson; several nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held 6:00 P.M. Wednesday January 24, 2018 in the Chapel of Moody-Davis Funeral Home. The family will receive friends on Wednesday from 5:00 P.M. until the time of his service at 6:00 P.M. The family has requested in lieu of flowers memorials be made to a charity of the donor’s choice. The family would like to give a special thanks to Hugh Chatham Memorial Hospital and the staff of the ICU for the love and care given to Sonny.
