Mr. Henry L. Penn, age 82, of Stuart passed away March 2, 2018 at Roanoke Memorial Hospital. He was born in Patrick County on March 3, 1935 to the late Ernest Preston Penn and Rosa Lee Hylton Penn. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Charlotte Penn Carter; and three brothers, Dewey Preston Penn, Sr., James Oscar “Wimpy” Penn, and Bobby Joe Penn. Henry was a member and one of the Sr. Deacons of Trinity Church of the Living God. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and brother.
Surviving are his wife of 58 years, Bishop Burgie Lawson Penn of the home; one daughter and son-in-law, Crystal and Curtis Reynolds of Critz; two sons, Gary Penn of Altavista, Larry Penn of Stuart; 6 grandchildren, Latisha Penn-Blue, Ashley Ellis-Johnson, Melanie Penn, Anthony Penn, Tamara Reynolds, Tiara Reynolds; 7 great grandchildren; five sisters and brothers-in-law, Elaine and James Clark of Stuart, Rosa Marie and James Hairston of Bassett, Mary Niblett of Roanoke, Alberta “Tootsie” Penn of Martinsville, Gloria Jean and Sammy Hagwood of Critz; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Philmore and Barbara Penn of Spencer, David and Mary Penn of Critz, Beatrice N. Penn of Spencer, Carrie H. Penn of Martinsville; and a host of nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, March 7, 2018 at 1:00 PM at Trinity Church of the Living God with Rev. Ronald S. Penn officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
