Mr. Henry Lee Tuggle, age 93 of Ferrum, passed away Friday, November 26, 2010 at the Blue Ridge Nursing Center in Stuart. He was born in Patrick County on August 11, 1917 to the late Thomas G. and Sallie Ada Woody Tuggle. In addition to his parents, Mr. Tuggle was preceded in death by his wife, Eura Wood Tuggle; three brothers; and six sisters. He was a member of Smith River Church of the Brethren, and was retired from J.P. Stevens. He served in the United States Army during World War II.
Mr. Tuggle is survived by two sons and a daughter-in-law, Jimmy Lee and Helen Tuggle of Woolwine and Roger Tuggle of Ferrum; two daughters and a son-in-law, Brenda and Bernice Belcher of Woolwine and Becky Platt of Orlando, Florida; four grandchildren, Melba Hall, Tammy Epperly, Joseph Lee Platt and David Platt; and four great-grandchildren, J. C. Belcher, George Belcher, Michaela Belcher and Kendra Hall.
Funeral services for Mr. Tuggle will be held Sunday at 2:30 p.m. at Moody Funeral Home in Stuart with Pastor DeWayne Troutt officiating. Burial will follow in Sycamore Baptist Church Cemetery with military rites conducted by the Patrick County Veterans Memorial Honor Guard. The family will receive friends Sunday from 1:00 p.m. until time of the service at the funeral home, or at the home of his son, Roger Tuggle, 372 Deer Run Road, Ferrum.
