Mr. Herbert H. Gammons

Mr. Herbert H. Gammons, age 83 of Ararat, passed away Sunday, April 2, 2017 at Pioneer Community Hospital in Stuart. He was born in Patrick County on October 7, 1933 to the late James Jesse Gammons and Susie Ada Goins Gammons. In addition to his parents, Mr. Gammons was preceded in death by four brothers, David Lee Gammons, William James Gammons, Blaine Gammons and Frank Gammons; and a niece, Lisa Gammons. He was of the Baptist faith.

Mr. Gammons is survived by a brother and sister-in-law, Winfield and Elaine Gammons of Stuart; and a sister, Ruby Layman of Stuart; three nephews, Mark Gammons, Garry Layman, Mike Layman; a niece, Debbie Taylor; a step-nephew, Ronnie Newman; three great-nephews, Robert Layman, Nicholas Layman, Matthew Taylor; and three great-nieces, Allison Gammons, Kallie Layman, Bethany Owen.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, April 6, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. at Moody Funeral Home in Stuart with Pastor David Heath officiating. Burial will follow in Hills Grove Baptist Church Cemetery.
