Mr. Herman Thomas Hagwood age 47, of Martinsville, in the Carver Community, died Saturday, May 19, 2007 at the Memorial Hospital of Martinsville and Henry County. He was born in Patrick County on July 4, 1959, and was preceded in death by his father, Herman Thomas Penn, his grandparents, Charlie and Martha Ruth Hagwood and Russell and Dolly Penn; and a half-brother, Thomas King. He served in the United States Army Reserves, and was a member of Antioch Baptist Church.
Mr. Hagwood is survived by his wife, Gracie Ann Reynolds Hagwood of the home, two daughters and a son-in-law, Stephanie Nichole and Dantonio Penn and Katisha Alcorn; two sons, Corey Thomas Hagwood and Darius Stephone Hagwood, all of Martinsville; one step-daughter, Christy Nichole Reynolds of Patrick Springs; three grandchildren; his mother, Vera Bell Hagwood of Martinsville; two brothers, James Hagwood of Martinsville and Carl Edward Hagwood of Fieldale; three sisters, Deborah Hagwood of Martinsville, Melissa Hagwood-Preston of Martinsville and Montrea Shamane Hagwood of Collinsville; five nephews, Steve Hagwood, Gabriel Hagwood, Rontay Preston, Tykee Swanson and Bryce Spencer; five nieces, Adrienne Hagwood, Jessica Hagwood, Keaira Hagwood, Takeya Bradley and Nygeria Monee Hagwood; four aunts, Bessie Reynolds, Shirley Hagwood, Carrie Penn and Eva Hairston; and two uncles, Tom Hagwood and Richard Hagwood.
Funeral services for Mr. Hagwood will be held Wednesday at 2:00 p.m. at Antioch Baptist Church in Ridgeway with Rev. Ray Matthews and Rev. Leander Reynolds officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the services at the church. Moody Funeral Home in Stuart is in charge of the arrangements.
