Mr. Homer William Fain

Mr. Homer William Fain, age 85 of Stuart, passed away Saturday, March 25, 2017, at Woltz Hospice Home in Dobson, North Carolina. He was born in Patrick County on March 19, 1932 to the late Paul Harold Fain and Lois Dollarhite Fain. In addition to his parents, Mr. Fain was preceded in death by a sister, Audrey Gregory and a brother, Howard Fain. He retired from United Elastic with 40 years of service and had been a paper carrier for several years. He loved gardening and bee keeping. He was a sweet, humble and kind man who was devoted to his wife and family, and was fondly known as “Poppy” to his great grandchildren.

Mr. Fain is survived by his wife of 63 years, Anna Cox Fain of the home; two daughters, Beverly Fain Shelton of Stuart and Sonya Lea Fain of Winston-Salem, North Carolina; a grandson, Kevin Duane Shelton; three great-grandchildren, Tamara Shelton, Claira Frisco and Brittany Shelton; five siblings, Lucy (Elder Donnie) Conner, of Stuart, Elaine (Winfield) Gammons of Stuart, Herman (Linda) Fain of Patrick Springs, Vernon “Pete” Fain of Stuart, and Bernice (Vernon) Tilley of Stuart; a brother-in-law, Thomas Gregory of Patrick Springs; a sister-in-law, Hollis Fain of Patrick Springs; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, March 29, 2017 at 3:00 p.m. at Moody Funeral Home in Stuart with Elder Tim McGrady. Burial will follow in Patrick Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home, and at other times at the home.
