Mr. Horace Dean "Bud" Surratt

Mr. Horace Dean “Bud” Surratt, age 80, of Ararat, NC passed away on Tuesday February 21, 2017 at Northern Hospital of Surry County. He was born in Carroll Co. VA on May 12, 1936 to the late Ivy Olen Surratt and the late Ila Fay Hawks Surratt Cockerham. He was a member of Little Mountain Baptist Church and was retired from Derby Hosiery. Surviving are his wife Carolyn Creed Surratt of the home; daughter Trish and Raymond Knowles of Ararat, VA; step-daughter Amanda and David Herring of Ararat, NC; Ricky Dean Surratt, Richard Dean Surratt; nine grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; sisters and brothers-in-law, Patty and Max Mauldin of Mt. Airy, Norma and Hugh Kearny of Pfafftown, Doris Hawks of Cana VA, Ivalee Gunnell of Cana VA; brother Carlos Surratt of Mt. Airy and two nieces, Dawn and Jennifer. A graveside service will be held Saturday 11:00 AM at Peoples Church Cemetery with Rev. Steve Johnson and Rev. Bill Watson conducting. The family will receive friends at Moody-Davis Funeral Home on Saturday morning from 10:00 am until the time to go to the Cemetery for the graveside.
