Mr. Howard Daniel Marion

Mr. Howard Daniel Marion, of Dobson, NC went to be with his Heavenly Father on Friday January 12, 2018, at the age of 90. He was born in Surry County, NC on January 27, 1927 the son of Daniel Yancey and Dellie Frances Johnson Marion. He was joyfully welcomed to heaven by his loving wife Mary Ellen Dockery Marion, his parents, his brothers Bishop and Claude Marion, his sisters Geneva Jones, Lucille Snow, Ollie Kossler and Edna Pilson as well as many other loved ones and dear friends. He is survived by his sons Danny Marion, Keith and wife Debbie Marion; his devoted daughter and son-in-law Melinda and Raymond Baker; his grandchildren and spouses, Danette and Dickie Davis, Dana and Donald Whitlow, Greg and Kristy Sidden, Nathan and Linda Sidden, Andrea and Dennis Hemby, Brian Marion, Todd Marion, Amy Marion, David and Bethany Marion; fifteen great-grandchildren, Dustin, Deaven, Daniel, Danielle, Drake, Katie, Lauren, Jacob, Sarah, Megan, Hannah, Haley, Kathryne, Keith, Christen; sister Faye Duenkel and sister-in-law Josephine Wright. Howard served in the United States Army, farmed, and worked at Proctor-Silex in Mount Airy until his retirement. Howard was a faithful member of Salem Baptist Church. He was the best dad and Papa that God could have blessed his family with and loved everyone wholeheartedly. Papa enjoyed his retirement. He made many friends while riding along with his son Danny who works in the auto business. He also enjoyed sitting on his carport and visiting his friends at the Citgo, The Lantern, McDonalds, Surry Drug, and many other stops in his daily drives around Dobson. The family would like to thank the many friends who have blessed Papa throughout his golden years. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 P.M., Monday January 15, 2018 at Salem Baptist Church, 430 Rockford Rd. Dobson, NC 27017, with burial to follow in the church cemetery with full Military Honors by Veterans of Foreign Wars Memorial Honor Guard Mount Airy Post 2019 and Pilot Mountain Post 9436. Rev. Keith Marion, Rev. David Powell and Dr. Darrell Tate will conduct the services. The family will receive friends at Salem Baptist Church on Monday from 11:30 A.M. until the time of his service at 1:00 P.M. Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to Salem Baptist Church Cemetery Fund. Moody-Davis Funeral Home is serving the Marion Family.
