Mr. Howard Terry Shelton

Mr. Howard Terry Shelton, 72, of Pilot Mountain was called home to be with his heavenly father after a courageous battle with cancer on Thursday, February 18, 2016 at Baptist Medical Center in Winston Salem. He was born in Surry County on February 7, 1944 to the late Sherman Lee and Mary Elizabeth Johnson Shelton. Mr. Shelton was of the Primitive Baptist faith and was a kind, gentle and loving man to all those who knew him. He always reached out to help others. He is survived by his wife, Joyce Stewart Shelton of the home; a daughter, Terri Brackens of Winston Salem; a granddaughter, Taylor Brackens of Winston Salem; a sister and brother-in-law, Iris and Keith Gentry of Lowgap; brothers and sisters-in-law, Gray and Hilda Shelton, Wade and Louise Shelton all of Mt. Airy, Rufus Shelton of Winston Salem, Jerry and Susan Shelton of Ararat, NC; many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Mr. Shelton was preceded in death by a daughter, Angela Elizabeth Shelton and a sister, Rachel Hebert. Funeral services will be held Sunday February 21, 2016 at 2:00 PM at Moody Funeral Home Chapel with the Elder Rodney Marshall and Elder David Edwards officiating. Burial will follow in Rock House Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at Moody Funeral Home in Mt. Airy, NC.
