Mr. Hugh Bennett Edmonds

Mr. Hugh Bennett Edmonds, age 82, of Dobson, NC passed away on Wednesday evening, November 8, 2017 at Forsyth Medical Center surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Surry Co. on May 28, 1935 to the late Floyd Oscar and Lela Mae Marion Edmonds. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three sisters, Edith Brown, Faye Horne, and Ethel Edmonds; three brothers, Arthur Edmonds, Foy Edmonds, and Arnold Edmonds. He was a veteran of the US Air Force and served during the Korean Conflict. He was a dedicated member of Salem Baptist Church of Dobson for over 50 years, where he was a member of the Choir as well as the Historical and Cemetery committees. He attended Appalachian State University and had an entrepreneurial spirit. He retired from for Allied Systems, Inc. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather. Surviving are his loving wife, Patsy Draughn Edmonds of the home; daughter and son-in-law Breanna Edmonds Bennett and Will Bennett of Yadkinville; granddaughter, Abigail Bennett; sister and brother-in-law, Elaine and Jack Hermic of Winston Salem; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Frances and James Higgins of Dobson. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Monday, November 13, 2017 at Salem Baptist Church with burial to follow in the Church Cemetery with full Military Honors by Veterans of Foreign Wars Memorial Honor Guard Mount Airy Post 2019 and Pilot Mountain Post 9436. Rev. David Powell and Dr. Darrell Tate will officiate the services. The family will receive friends at Salem Baptist Church on Sunday evening from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM. Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to the Salem Baptist Church Cemetery Fund, PO Box 462, Dobson, NC 27017. Moody-Davis Funeral Home is serving the Edmonds family.
