Mr. Jack Wilbur Hundley, age 83 of Stuart, passed away Sunday, December 25, 2011 at his home. He was born in Stokes County, North Carolina on January 7, 1928 to the late John Hundley, Sr. and Ida Collins Hundley. In addition to his parents, Mr. Hundley was preceded in death by his wife, Betty Jo Hundley and one brother, John Hundley, Jr. He had served in the United States Army and worked as a postal carrier for the United States Postal Service. He was a member of Stuart United Methodist Church, and was an avid golfer.
Mr. Hundley is survived by two brothers, Robert L. Hundley and wife, Leah, of Mechanicsville, and Thomas F. Hundley and wife, Martha S., of Eden, North Carolina; a sister-in-law, Jo Manon Hundley of Knoxville, Tennessee; several nieces and nephews; and special caregivers, Danny Conner, Robin Millette, Phyllis Boles, Judy and Ronnie Steele, Bill and Cheryl Kiefer, Barbara Dalton, Faye Fain and John Hall.
A memorial service will be held Friday, December 30, 2011 at 2:00 p.m. at Stuart United Methodist Church with Pastor Tommy Shepherd officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church. Burial will follow in Stuart Cemetery with military rites by the Patrick County Veterans Memorial Honor Guard. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Jeb Stuart Rescue Squad, P.O. Box 340, Patrick Springs, Virginia 24133 or to Stuart United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 946, Stuart, Virginia 24171.
