Mr. Jackie Wayne Butcher

Mr. Jackie Wayne Butcher, 76, of Mt. Airy passed away Sunday, May 12, 2013 at his home. He was born in Surry County on October 24, 1936 to the late Arthur and Clara Mae Johnson Butcher. Mr. Butcher was retired from Renfro and was a member of Westside Baptist Church. He is survived by three daughters and sons-in-law, Gail and Charles Hawks of Cana, VA, Patricia and Arthur Shinault of Mt. Airy, Amy Edwards and Fiancé Jamey Snow of Lowgap; nine grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; one step grandchild; a sister, Brenda Bowman of Mt. Airy; three brothers, Bow, Ronnie, and Danny Butcher all of Mt. Airy. In addition to his parents, Mr. Butcher was preceded in death by his wife, Magdalene Butcher; a daughter and son-in-law, Bonnie and Walter Goins; a step daughter, Dian Felts; a step grandchild; two brothers, Teddy and James Butcher; the mother of his children Violet Edwards. Funeral services will be held Thursday, May 16, 2013 at 11:00 AM at Westside Baptist Church with the Rev. Steve Johnson officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends Thursday from 10:00 AM until time of the service at Westside Baptist Church. Moody Funeral Home in Mt. Airy is serving the Butcher family.
