Mr. James Houston "Jay" Atkins

Mr. James Houston “Jay” Atkins, age 78, of Dobson, NC passed away at his home on Saturday morning December 26, 2015. He was born in Surry County on May 8, 1937 to the late Lemuel Webster Atkins and the late Hessie Haynes Atkins. He was of the Baptist Faith and was a retired Supervisor from Chatham Manufacturing in Elkin. Surviving are his wife Sandra Stanley Atkins of the home; one daughter and son-in-law Teresa Atkins Ray and Gene Ray of Mocksville, one son and daughter-in-law James Madison Atkins and Michele Atkins of Dobson; one granddaughter Chelsey Madyson Atkins; one brother and sister-in-law Rev. Lanny Atkins and Sharron Atkins of Dobson. Funeral services will be held at 3:00 P.M. Tuesday December 29, 2015 in the chapel of Moody-Davis Funeral Home, with burial to follow in the Fairview Baptist Church Cemetery. Dr. Andy Atkins and Rev. Bill Wall will conduct the services. The family will receive friends at Moody-Davis Funeral Home on Tuesday from 1:00 P.M. until the time of his service at 3:00 P.M. Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to the Fairview Baptist Church CEMETERY Fund, C/O Tommy Edmonds, 7659 NC Hwy 268, Dobson, NC 27017.
