Mr. James Kennis Comer

Mr. James Kennis Comer, age 82, of Dobson passed away on Saturday November 19, 2011, at the Forsyth Medical Center in Winston-Salem, NC. He was born in Surry County on October 10, 1929 to the late Henry Sid Comer and the late Lavassie Whitaker Comer. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife Marylene Brindle Comer and one son Kennis Comer; one brother Delmore Comer; two sisters Mickie Childress, and Janice Key. He was Division Equipment Superintendent with 34 years of service with the North Carolina DOT. He was a life long member of Salem Fork Christian Church. He was one of only two Honorary members of the Dobson Rescue Squad, Surviving are one daughter Kittie Comer of the home; two sons and daughters-in-law Keith and Rindy Comer of Advance, NC, Kevin and Marie Comer of Dobson, NC; four grandchildren Hannah Comer, Haley Comer, Tristan Comer, and Jordan Comer; two Sisters and brothers-in-law Irene and Max Weaver of Winston-Salem, Barbara and Jimmie Davis of Dobson; two brothers and sisters-in-law Odell and Hazel Comer of Dobson, Clark and Carolyn Comer of Dobson; sister-in-law Faye Comer of Dobson; brother-in-law Jim Childress of Sylva, NC. A graveside service will be held Tuesday 12:00 Noon November 22, 2011 in the Cemetery of Salem Fork Christian Church. The Services will be conducted by Rev. June Haislip, and Todd Byrd. The family has requested that in lieu of flowers memorials be made to the Dobson Rescue Squad, or to the Salem Fork Christian Church Cemetery Fund, 2490 Zephyr Road, Dobson, NC 27017. Moody-Davis in Dobson is serving the Comer Family
