Mr. James Alvis Deal

Mr. James Alvis Deal, age 83 of Patrick Springs, passed away Friday, December 25, 2009 at Roanoke Memorial Hospital. He was born in Henry County on May 11, 1926 to the late Abe Lee and Edith Dolly Deal. He was a member of Patrick Springs Church of God of Prophecy and retired from Bassett Furniture.
Mr. Deal was also preceded in death by his wife; Louise Kendrick Deal; a son, Donnie Deal; a sister, Josie A. Craig; a brother, Calvin Deal; and a step mother, Susie Handy Deal.
Mr. Deal is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Regina and Larry Wood of Patrick Springs; two sons and daughter-in-law, Larry Deal of Wirtz, VA., Ronnie and Sonja Deal of Fincastle, VA.; four grandchildren; Jason Wood, Cindy Wood, Josh Deal and Courtney Deal; four great grandchildren; Victoria Knight, Amber Smith, Summer Smith and Mollie Deal; and three sisters, Sadie Harper of Mason, Ohio, Gladys Craig of Bassett, VA and Sarah Ann Deal of Martinsville, VA.
Funeral services for Mr. Deal will be held at 2:00 PM Wednesday, December 30, 2009 at Patrick Springs Church of God of Prophecy with Pastor Tom Warren officiating. Burial will follow in the County Line Church of God of Prophecy Cemetery. The family will receive friends 30 minutes prior to the service at the church.
