Mr. James "Jimmy" Lansdell Hazel, Jr

Mr. James “Jimmy” Lansdell Hazel, Jr., age 71, of Mt. Airy, passed away Friday, April 15, 2016, at the Woltz Hospice Home. Mr. Hazel was born in Surry County on November 15, 1944 to the late James Lansdell Hazel, Sr. and Rachel Sides Hazel. Surviving is his devoted wife, Monica Beck Hazel; a sister and brother-in-law, Beth and Philgene Montgomery; brothers, David Hazel and Billy Hazel; his mother-in-law, Mary Freeman; father-in-law Paul Beck and wife Mabel; several nieces and nephews and a very special friend, Mike Estes. The family will receive friends Sunday night from 6:00 to 8:00 at Moody Funeral Home and at other times at the home of his sister, Beth Montgomery, 509 Maple St. Mt. Airy. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Woltz Hospice Home or Mountain Valley Hospice at 945 Zephyr Rd., Dobson, NC 27017 or to Mayberry 4 Paws at 125 Skyview Lane., Mt. Airy, NC 27030.
