Mr. James "Jim" Jackson, Jr

Mr. James "Jim" William Jackson, Jr., age 71, of Ararat, VA passed away Tuesday, October 22, 2013 at his home. Mr. Jackson was born in Surry County on October 10, 1942 to James W. Jackson and Nettie Griffin Jackson Towe. He worked as an electrical contractor, employed by Floyd S. Pike Electrical, for twenty six years and in 1994 established his own electrical business, Jim Jackson Electric, Inc. Mr. Jackson was a devoted Virginia Tech fan and attended many games to support and watch his grandson perform in the Marching Virginians. He will be dearly missed by his devoted wife and precious children and grandchildren. Surviving are his loving wife, Judy Smith Jackson; daughters and sons-in-law, Lisa Thompson and Mike Ayers, Teresa and Greg Smith, Janie Jackson Easter and Deborah Hawks all of Ararat; grandchildren, Joshua "David" Thompson, Matthew "Walter" Thompson, Sidney "Willie Cat" Easter, Taylor "Pole Cat" Hawks and Irene Rose "Rose Bud" Smith; Willie Jack his grand dog; nieces, Peggy Hall and husband, Ricky and Linda Lee and husband, Donald; sister-in-law, Betty Epperson and husband Bernie and brothers-in-law, Laz Smith, William Smith and Larry Sawyers. In addition to his parents, Mr. Jackson was preceded in death by a sister, Peggy Rae Jackson, and a brother, Billy Gray Jackson. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM, Saturday, October 26, 2013 at Moody Funeral Home Chapel by Rev. Charles Moore and Rev. Monty Mitchell. Burial will follow in Oakdale Cemetery with military honors by VFW Memorial Honor Guard, Mt. Airy Post 2019 & Pilot Mtn. Post 9436. The family will receive friends Friday night from 6:00 to 8:00 at the funeral home.
