Mr. James Alexander "Jim" Matty

Mr. James Alexander "Jim" Matty, age 48, of Mt. Airy, NC passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday March 20, 2013. He was born in Forsyth County to the late Anton Joseph Matty and to Anne Bowman Mayfield. In addition to his father he was preceded in death by one sister Valerie Matty. He was employed by the State of North Carolina as a probation officer, and was of the Baptist faith. He was a graduate of Appalachian State University in Boone NC. Surviving are his wife Deborah McMillian Matty of the home, one son and daughter-in-law Chuck Martin and Anya Martin of Ararat, NC; three grandchildren Maddox Martin, Finn Martin, and Gib Martin; his mother Anne Bowman Mayfield of Winston Salem; sister Teresa Matty of Durham; nieces and nephews Alexander Moseley, Leigh Moseley, Mac McMillian, Adam McMillian, Karrie Yarborough. A memorial service will be held 11:00 A.M. Saturday morning March 23, 2013 at The Dobson First Baptist Church in Dobson with Chaplin Robin Sides conducting. There will be no formal visitation held, but the family will receive friends at the home of his son Chuck Martin.
