Mr. James "Jim" McMillan

Mr. James “Jim” Lee McMillan, age 80, of Mt. Airy, passed away Monday, February 26, 2018, at his home. Mr. McMillan was born in Surry County on March 31, 1937, to Elbert Chester and Josephine McCraw McMillan. He was such a loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather who will be dearly missed by all his family and many friends. He loved collecting and tinkering with his Ford tractors. Surviving is his devoted wife of 47 years, Alma Marion McMillan; a daughter, Toni McMillan; a stepson, Vernon Norman and wife Paula; grandchildren, Jessica Wright and husband Billy, Cody McMillan and wife Amber, and Erin Byrd; great grandchildren, Ada, Eli, Adelyn, Ryan, and Stormey; sisters and a brother-in-law, JoAnne and Gary Bentley, and Jessie Parsons; a sister-in-law, Rosalee McMillan; and several special nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Mr. McMillan was preceded in death by a daughter, Teresa McMillan; and brothers, E. C. “Hank” McMillan, and Wallace McMillan, and a brother-in-law, Larry Parsons. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM, Thursday, March 1, 2018, at Westside Baptist Church by Rev. Steve Johnson. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends Thursday at the church two hours prior to the service.
