Mr. James W. "Jimmy" Sheppard

Mr. James W. “Jimmy” Sheppard, age 82, of Stuart, passed away Saturday, Jan. 6, 2018 at the Blue Ridge Therapy Connection in Stuart. He was born on April 21, 1935 in Patrick County to the late James Hassell Sheppard and Georgia Martin Sheppard. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by an infant son, Christopher Lee Sheppard; his grandson, Jesse Wood Sheppard; and one sister, Mary Ruth Cooper. Jimmy was a member of Peters Creek Baptist Church.

Surviving are two daughters and sons-in-law, Kelly and Wade Hooker of Critz, Leslie and Tony Giorno of Salem; one son and daughter-in-law, Eric and Lisa Sheppard of Stuart; and six grandchildren, Sarah Sheppard, Nicholas Hooker, Taylor Giorno, Hannah Giorno, Jonathan Woods, and Meredith Law.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, Jan. 10, 2018 at 2:00 p.m. at Peters Creek Baptist Church with Rev. Terry Ragsdale officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends Tuesday night from 6 to 8 at Moody Funeral Home in Stuart. Memorials may be made to the Jesse Wood Sheppard Memorial Scholarship Fund c/o Stuart Rotary Club, P.O.
