Mr. James Ray Simpson, Sr

Mr. James Ray Simpson, Sr. age 78, of Mt. Airy, NC passed away on Thursday evening December 24, 2015 at Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center in Winston-Salem. He was born on January 2, 1937 to the late James Roy Simpson and late Fena Moore Simpson. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by two sisters, Lois Jockwig and Shelby Jean Bowman and his brother, Bill Simpson.
James was a member of Blues Grove Baptist Church and retired from Proctor Silex. Surviving is his wife JoAnn Carpenter Simpson of the home; two daughters and sons in-law Nancy and Harry Holyfield of White Plains, Bonnie Jean and Luke Spencer of King; three sons and daughters-in-law, Bobby Dean and JoAnn Simpson of Mount Airy, Sammy Ray and Christie of Mt. Airy, and James Ray Jr. and Alicia Simpson of Dobson; eleven grandchildren and nineteen great- grandchildren. Visitation will be Tuesday December 29, 2015 from 1-2 PM at Blues Grove Baptist Church. The funeral will follow at 2 PM with Reverend Roland McCraw officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
