Mr. James Randall “Randy” Stevens

Mr. James Randall “Randy” Stevens, best known by many as “Boomer”, 60, of Mt. Airy passed away Tuesday, October 24, 2017 at Forsyth Medical Center. He was born in Surry County on October 8, 1957 to the late James Raymond and Ann Morris Stevens. Randy retired from Bannertown Fire Department after serving 26 years; and a total of seven years, as fire chief. Currently, he was owner and operator of S & H Vending Co.. He was an avid golfer, taking every opportunity he could to play. Randy was selfless, always willing to help others with compassion and generosity beyond measure. He was a mentor to many and may be best described as, “father figure of the community”. He is survived by his loving wife, Mary Hall Stevens; sons and daughter-in-law, Luke and Donna Stevens and Trent Stevens; adored grandchildren, Olivia Stevens and Mitch Mabe; sisters and brothers-in-law, Donna and Raymond McAleer, Lynn Stevens and fiancé, Don Taylor, Jr., and Robin and Terry Newman; aunts, Irene Morris, Mary Laura Stevens, and Christine Hunter; and many nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM on Saturday, October 28, 2017 at Moody Funeral Home Chapel with Brother Larry Johnson officiating. Burial will follow at the James Monroe Hiatt Cemetery.
